This project involved decking the rooftop of a commercial block in the heart of London’s financial district. The Eastcheap office block, which was being completely refurbished, included a 350m2 previously unused service area on the 9th floor which the owners wanted to convert into a roof terrace intended as a breakout area for staff.
The installation was carried out on an inverted roof. The contractor laid down a double layer of our aluminium frame onto heavy-duty adjustable Wallbarn MegaPad pedestals, which provided a stable footing for the framework. They then laid composite Moor Oak boards onto the aluminium frame, simply stamping the boards into position.
Walbarn supplies products and services that focus on building envelope, finishes, hard and soft landscaping, protection, waterproofing systems. Its products are designed to be safe and easy to handle, fast and straightforward to install, robust and designed to improve performance of the structure and optimise the footprint of the building.
Installers were able to achieve a superior, natural finish with clean lines by accurately cutting the boards to fit neatly to edges and corners. It took five men 10 working days to complete the full 350m² roof deck.
